Draw that!

Charcoal still life

Went back to school this week. Kind of. I had a drawing lesson in an insanely cold studio, with one other student, under the tutelage of a local artist. We were both set different tasks – mine was to draw this really complicated dried stick floral arrangement high up on a shelf next to a pile of wobbly sketchbooks and a weird shaped jug.

Must I? It’s really hard….yes, because I am paying this person to help me and that is what they want me to draw. And just as I think I can’t put any more into a piece of work because it is going so badly, my drawing tutor makes a few gentle nudges and observations, and off I go again. Such a change from working alone!
